Backup Strategies
Our Backup and Disaster Recovery Plans take advantage of two general backup strategies: local and online backup.
Local Backup
With local or "onsite" backup, data is copied to an external hard drive or file server located within the local area network (for example, in your office). This type of backup is the simplest to implement and is fast, but alone provides no protection against data loss events such as theft, fire and flood. Local backup is included in both our Basic and Premium plans.
Online Backup
Online backup addresses the limitations of local backup by using the internet to store data at one or more secure, remote locations. This type of backup provides the most protection for your data, but it can be slow if there is a large amount of data to be backed up. Online backup is included in both our Standard and Premium plans.
Due to the limitations of both strategies, a combination of both local and online backup provides the ultimate in data protection, speed and convenience. All of these advantages can be found in our Premium plan.
We will work with you to select and customize the most appropriate and cost-effective Backup and Disaster Recovery Plan for your business, based on:
- your budget;
- the number of desktop and laptop computers;
- the number of servers;
- the total amount and age of data; and
- the frequency with which the data changes.
